Re: Vista/Windows 7 Duplex Patch for Officejet 7210 7310 7410 and Photosmart 2610 2710

This works great . But: I have Vista 64 and cannot choose the %temp% destination for the extract.  Instead I used c:\temp.  The rest worked great.

I am amazed (in a bad way) that HP has not fixed this problem for networked printers.

Thanks, I got tired of standing on my head trying to save paper.

This patch says I have to purchase the fix. Why is that?

Where does it say that?  The patches are all available for download on this site, there is no charge.

Re: Vista/Windows 7 Duplex Patch for Officejet 7210 7310 7410 and Photosmart 2610 2710

I used the patch on Vista successfullly; many thanks!  Several months ago I bought a new notebook with Win 7 Prof and duplex printing worked fine until a couple of months ago.  I've deleted the 7410 and reinstallled it, loaded the Vista patch, just in case and still can't get it to print on both sides even though the Duplex Unit appears as Installed on the Device Settings tab and I double check for two sided printing when printing a doc.  I've also tried downloading the full driver from HP.  I'm using a USB connection.  I can copy on two sides, so hardware is fine.

Any suggestions?

Many thanks for your assistance.

The patch should not be needed for Windows 7 although it should not hurt anything.  Are you using the Windows 7 driver?  If not I would suggest you download and install the Windows 7 driver from HP here.

If you are using the Win 7 driver what happens when you select duplex printing?

  • Do all the pages print but on single pages?  If single pages are alternating pages reversed top to bottom?
  • What are your paper settings - are you selecting Automatic or Plain Paper?  If the paper type is set to Automatic I would suggest changing it to Plain Paper.
  • Are there any error messages?

Re: Vista/Windows 7 Duplex Patch for Officejet 7210 7310 7410 and Photosmart 2610 2710

I dont have a %temp% folder to unzip the file into, so I get the error message file not found.

I tried to create it under the system32 folder and it stil didn't work... What do I have to type to get the computer to read the file from the location it is in.   The file is currently in C:Windows\System32\%temp%

Thank you

Did you read the PDF that included the detailed instructions?  %temp% is a shortcut to the system temporary file, you can find it by typing %temp% in the computer.
