I was glad to see your post about the temporary fix for USB connected printers for Windows 7, but I'm sure you realize most of us in the office environment need solutions for our NETWORKED printers PLEASE Im having to copy files to other printers just to print my documents. We need those drivers ASAP. Thanks HP.

Were you intending to reply to a current thread rather than start a new one? What printer model do you need? I have been using my Officejet 7410 and Photosmart 2610 printers on my network for a month....

We currently have both an HP deskjet 5650 and an Officejet 8500 all in one. The 6560 when we try to install it, windows 7 says it doesn't have a driver, and the HP driver downloads section says there isnt' a driver currently available and their work around is only for the USB install not for a network installation. I downloaded the officejet 8500 driver and tryed to install it, (Over a wireless router), it says the printer has to be on the same network section. Printer is installed on a internal network address of 192.168.10.x, Our Wireless router is 192.168.0.X address, so the software won't install on the laptop..So I'm not sure what the problem is there. Everything else with the Windows 7 upgrade has gone great here in the office. Thanks for your prompt reply! just waiting on the fix for network printers that don't have a default driver in the Windows 7 x64 installation

I'm having this same issue with a new laptop running Windows 7. I can plug in the Deskjet 5650 via USB, as the workaround suggests, but that's not practical. The 5650 is networked to another computer, and I can't load the drivers that way. I, too, am having to go to another computer, open documents, and print from there rather than print directly from the new laptop.
Thanks for any help!

Don't hold your breath, the last contact I had with HP was they have no plans to support a windows 7 driver for the 5650. So I went and bought a Lexmark since they aren't supporting their own equipment.

Try the following: on the Windows 7 machine go to the Devices and Printers folder, Add a Printer, Local Printer, Create a Port, Local Port, \\Computername\Printername (use the actual share name for the computer and printer), OK, then click on Windows Update and then select HP Deskjet 5600 series (HPA) (HP).

If we have printers designed for network connection (i have the 7680), i shoudln't have to put it on a USB connection to use it with Windows7. I am running Windows7 (64-bit) on a home network. Have installed the latest (full) software components and drivers, yet the printer will not stay connected. I have to go through the HP Solution Center, "fix it" and it will print and disconnect again. I've scoured forums, HP's site, etc. and no solution seems to exist. Why can't the printer stay connected to the network?

This worked! I'm shocked and I really would not have thought of trying to type the network share name under a new port using the local printer option. I'm glad it worked thanks for that. Its rather annoying how the Add network printer option doesn't work though especially when it finds the printer.
