Hi Group
I have installed a PCI parallel card StarTech PCIPECP in my HP XW6600 running Windows 7 (64bit) using microsoft update.
All appears ok says PCI card working in Windows Device Manager.
Next I started to install the Deskjet 520 after updating the HP drivers in Windows. As no drivers available for Deskjet 520, however there are drivers for 500 and 500c. These have been used successfully in Vista in another forum posting so i was hopeful.

However when i try to print using (microsoft Word 2010) the 500 or 500c drivers the printer comes to life, but prints some rubbish on the first line and then loads another sheet and prints some rubbish on first line and loads another sheet..... etc
Thanks for trouble of looking
Iain

Hello Iain123,
I don't have a 100% solution for you but here are the steps I'd suggest:
First I'd suggest reconnecting the parallell cable (from both computer and printer) and at the same time checking it for any bent/broken pins. If there are any, replace the cable.
Next I would reinstall the drivers for both the PCI parallell card and the printer.
Third would be to replace the parallell cable.

Hello Pontus
Thanks for the suggestion, I should have said that I had
already tried installing reinstalling the PCI card software and printer drivers a number of times.
The printer and lead works on an older XP (32bit) PC, so makes me think the lead is not faulty unless new PCI card uses more connections?
Thanks once again for taking time.
Iain
