hP3210 All in one doesnt let me upload from my camera to computer using transfer and quick print

A couple of months ago we got a broadband highspeed internet modem and a router. Around the same time, I noticed that I cannot get my Hp Photosmart 3210 all in one  to transfer images from my memory card to the computer. Every time I put in a memory card, it says "no media". Yet, the images show up on my front screen of the all in one printer, and I can see them as a slide show on the computer, but it just wont let me transfer the images to my computer any more. I don't understand. I have never had this problem before. Is it related to the new modem and router, or something else?

Hi nanogt,

What OS is on the computer and what type of router was installed? (brand/model)

Re: hP3210 All in one doesnt let me upload from my camera to computer using transfer and quick print

First, do this at your PC. Right-click Start and then click Explore to open Windows Explorer.

  1. In the Folders pane on the left-side of the window, browse to and then select the memory device.
  2. Click File , click New , and then click Folder .
  3. Name the new folder DCIM .
  4. Copy or move the photos that do not display on the control panel into the DCIM folder.
If some photos still do not display on the control panel, save the photos in the DCIM folder again without any Exchangeable Image File Format (EXIF) data. EXIF files are a type of JPG file that contains extra information about what the camera settings were when the photo was taken.
See if this allows them to display. Hope this helps!

In the pane on the left hand side, I couldn't find the memory device. All I found, was a memory stick drive device, which I don't have. Sorry, I am not understanding; kind of dumb I guess when it comes to tech stuff, lol!

Re: hP3210 All in one doesnt let me upload from my camera to computer using transfer and quick print

Ok, I now inserted the memory card directly into the computer, and the HP transfer and quick print accepted the card that way and transfered the pictures. Why do you think when I insert the card into the HP all in one, it shows a message"no media", but when I insert the card into the computer, it transfers them fine and the pictures show up in the image zone?

I believe this may be related to the EXIF files. These files are a type of JPG file that contain extra information about what the camera settings were when the photo was taken and if the all in one is looking at these files rather than the photo it may cause an issue.

Is there anything I can do to fix what is going on with the all in one? What can I do to get it to read the photos again like before?

This document might help, it deals with the DCIM folder and EXIF information:

Re: hP3210 All in one doesnt let me upload from my camera to computer using transfer and quick print

For some reason, my computer and my Hp 3210 all in one just aren't communicating. I went to the printer toolbox to check the estimated ink levels and a message came up that read: The computer is unable to establish two way communication with the device. How do I reestablish communication with the the computer and printer? could this also effect the picture transfers? I am really lost on this one.
