In HP Solution Center message appears: HP Photosmart Series disconnected.  Trouble shooting indicates "unable to establish two-way communication with the device.  Previously worked fine.

Hey there Marie. Could you provide some more information about your issue? Things like the type of printer you have including the model number, what operating system you are using including the version, and any other information you can provide would be extremely helpful for me to diagnosis the issue.
