photosmart premium C309c and Avery Design Pro 5.4

I cannot get Avery Deisgn Pro 5.4 to print to my PhotoSmart C309c. The software will not calibrate. When I print, the printer makes sounds like it is printing but nothing comes out.

I found an odd workaround. Probably a better one available, but this worked for me. When you select Print from Design Pro, in the printer drop down box select Microsoft XPS Document Writer instead of your printer.  Click OK, enter a file name, and save. That will save a .xps file. Next, open the .xps file and print it.
