Several months later and I am having the same problem.
Photosmart 2610xi
New Sony Vaio laptop with W7 Pro x64
Direct USB connection
Adding the printer (same one so a copy) after the installation finished made the Solution Center appear on my desktop, but clicking on it doesn't load and is not in the list of programs

Yep, same here. I installed the SW on two systems, but when I installed on the third, Dell XPS laptop, forgot to turn off the virus SW and had to deinstall. Have been working on it for two days, including a chat session with HP, to no avail. Cannot get Solutions Center to install. Have an extensive error log which shows there is something locking the autorun.inf file during installation. Am about to go through the registry to delete all references to HP to see if that helps.
Thought better of that after looking at the reg entries. These guys must know what's hanging up the Solutions Centre install. Someone there wrote it right?

Wow! No wonder this printer (C309a) was on sale. I cannot access Solution Center just as other posts have stated. I can't believe people have been dealing with this for months. Let me see...doesn't matter what OS. New install or CD...doesn't matter. 64 or 32 bit...doesn't seem to matter. Even the exact printer does not matter. DO YOU THINK MAYBE YOU HAVE A SOFTWARE ISSUE!!!????? OK. Mine is 32 bit XP and this HP problem is THE ONLY problem I have on my PC. I have sworn by HP printers for years, but if this is how support goes when we need it, then I will have to consider another brand. I'm sure no one can jack me around on support any worse than this ridiculous problem that has obviously lingered, unanswered, for months.

Well i finally give up
I cannot print , scan or do anything at all on one pc, but have another that works
Also have a mac that will print, but that is it.
I read every reply to this thread, and i am surprised to see THE TOTAL LACK OF INTEREST FROM HP AT ALL.
I also have been a dedicated HP printer user, and laptop user for many years, well NEVER AGAIN.
After 15 years using PC's, i converted to a Mac 2 months ago, and now
After 10 years of using HP Printers, and 1 year trying this get this box of non functiontiong plastic to work, i threw the lot in the bin and went out and bought a Canon.
QUESS WHAT, THAT WORKS PERFECTLY
I had to really re-strain myself from swearing in this response in the hope that it will get posted, but i dare say it will not be there for long!!

I have to agree with you. HP has done nothing to solve the problem that seems to effect many models. Before I toss the HP I will fire off a letter to them. All protests here seem to go unheard.

I've been waiting for a fix since last June. Print works but no scan. Such a waste.

FWIW, the c309a Solution Center works fine for me on the 64 bit version of Windows 7.

My C6380 worked great until I upgraded to Windows 7 from XP.
