why is hp scanning software like this

i have hp c4183 all in one

 

in the scanning the options:

 

Automatically adjust exposure - is set to on

sharpen - is set to on

 

isn't hp supposed to make the scanning  normal as possible

 

or why is this settings

 

is they good or bad should i turn them on or disable them
