Colour Laserjet 2605DN and Windows 7 64bit

I'm after some help with the Laserjet 2605DN as there are no drivers for Windows 7 available currently. If I install the universal print driver v5 or v6 it does work however only in black and white. I have tried installing every driver available even the Vista64 bit driver, but all I get is black and white prints again.

I know the printer is functioning correctly and has plenty of ink, so this must be a driver issue.

Any ideas folks?

Re: Colour Laserjet 2605DN and Windows 7 64bit

It helped for me to force the device type of the printer to "color".

Since I have a German UI, I don't know the exact translation of the menus:  You've got to go to the printer properties, in the tab "device properties" (third in the upper row) and then to the bottom of the list (last option, something like "printer type" or "device type"). There should be a pull down-menu, change the printer type to "color" here.

I'm so frustrated by the problem that I'm considering trading it in for a newer model that is supported.

i have the same issue, but found that the HP2700 win7 driver restores color, but does not duplex.  that may help for when you want color.

and use the universal driver for duplex, not ideal, but way cheaper than a new printer.

Re: Colour Laserjet 2605DN and Windows 7 64bit

I am having basically the same problem, and none of the offered drivers help. The universal driver is a non-starter. I can print from WORD documents but nothing from the internet. When I try to print from the internet the page comes out of the printer totally black; also a real waste of ink. This is a perfect example of how the consumer is again being screwed; neither Microsoft nor HP has any incentive to help out since both prefer you just buy something different. The operative word here is "buy". I have found Windows 7 a delight, except it runs none of my third party software. Thanks for nothing Microsoft.

Use HP Universal Print Driver for Windows PostScript x64. It can print both color and duplex.

How to do it (german):

Important part: you have to manually set color and duplex.

Re: Colour Laserjet 2605DN and Windows 7 64bit

Right click on the Printer icon, Choose Printer Properties, Choose Device Setting tab, Scroll all the way down.  The very last line under Installable Options is Device Type - Select COLOR.  Took a while to find but thank goodness...
