A friend of mine recently upgraded his laptop from windows XP to Windows 7. He originally tried to use Windows Update to download the driver for his 845c like your site suggests, and has followed the troubleshooting information provided. He tells me he even tried the windows XP driver which of course did not work. He's reached out to me for help locating a driver. Unfortunately the HP website only mentions windows update.
What we really need is a package file of the driver, either the .inf, or an .msi/.exe installer for it.
Just to clarify, I do not need information about using windows update to download the driver, or links to the page with this information, that would not be a helpful response.

The driver provided by Microsoft Windows Update only, and not through HP.
Try adding a printer, select a local port and then Next.
Below the printers list, click the Windows Update button to get the latest drivers from Microsoft.
It may take some time (5-15 minutes) till the printer list will appear again.
Then terminate the windows and plug the printer, it should be configured with no issues.
For any issue retrieving the driver from Microsoft servers, you may manually download the INF package from the Microsoft Update Catalog:

Go to www.hp.com Enter the product name / number. Be sure to check the additional information, like how to install the driver or troubleshooting guides.
