so I print a 40 page duplex document and I get an "ink drying" alert for Every. Single. Page. I know it's drying. I knew it was drying 39 pages ago. Is there a way to get rid of this extremely annoying and useless popup?

Hello MrsCogan,

Thank you for visiting the HP Support Forums! :smileyhappy: I understand when you are duplex printing on your HP Envy 4500 you get an 'ink drying' message after every page and you would like to turn this off. After some research, I was able to find that unfortunately there is no way to disable the ink drying delay notifications. It is there to ensure print quality and printer health.

I also found this thread, which refers to the older version software vs the newer printer software. To get a better understanding take a look below:

I hope this helps!

Please reread the question. I don't care about the delay. I want to elimate the alert

MrsCogan,

What is your current Operating system Windows or Mac and which version?

MrsCogan,

Thank you for the requested information. I was able to find an option in the print server properties to disable ink notifications, let's go ahead and follow the steps listed below and see if this will stop the 'ink drying' messages:

1. Go to your Windows Start Menu

2. Go to Devices and Printers

3. Highlight (click on it) the Envy 4500

4. Above the top, select Print server properties

5. Click on the Advanced tab

6. Make sure there are NO checkmarks in the following:

*Show informational notifications for local printers

*Show informational notifications for network printers

7. Click Apply

Are you still getting the error message?

Please let me know the outcome, I look forward to hearing from you.

MrsCogan,

Ok, thank you for trying my recommendations. As you are unable to turn off the ink drying feature I am sure this is why you are not able to disable the notifications.
