Re: HP Printer Control app for Windows 8

Just downloaded the Control app for the HP Elitepad. It finds all the printers on our network.

What is missing in order for me to see the ink levels? I can only see it on one of our printers. For all others I just have the tile Printer found.

Is this because it might be an older printer not supported by the app?

It's possible. What are the model numbers for the printers for which you can't get ink levels?

I work for HP.

Hi floboone and philliesphan,

Have you tried using the HP Print and Scan Doctor (www.hp.com/go/tools) that HandyAndy14 recommended in his post?

Re: HP Printer Control app for Windows 8

Hi dchen_oz,

I"m sorry to hear that you are having problems with the Scan and Capture tile. What printer do you have? Have you tried installing the HP Scan and Capture app directly from the Microsoft Store?

Steps
1. From the Start screen, open the Search panel.
- If you're using a touch screen, swipe in from the right edge of the screen and then tap the "Search" charm.
- If you're using a mouse, point to the upper-right or the lower-right corner of the screen, move up or down, and then click the "Search" charm.
2. Search for "HP Scan and Capture" in the "Store"

Thanks!

Re: HP Printer Control app for Windows 8

Thanks but it did not work. my printer is photosmart b109n. I installed the app as you suggested but the scan and capture tile did not appear. It did ask me to select a device but only a camera was auto detected. The printer is swithed on all the time.

Re: HP Printer Control app for Windows 8

Hi dchen_oz,

I will try to locate an HP Photosmart b109n printer to test.

In the mean time, can you try selecting your printer manually in the HP Scan and Capture app?
HP Scan and Capture app > Settings charm > Select Device > Manual Search

Thanks,
- Carolyn

Re: HP Printer Control app for Windows 8

Is there a driver that will work for my very old but still quite functional HP LaserJet 4P (for which I recently purchased 2 ink cartridges costing more than $100 each) using Windows 8. Really bummed.
