Officejet 5610v software installation,

Officejet 5610v software installation, windows xp 32 bit, DELL Vostro. Trying to attach the printer to a new computer. When I download the software I keep getting access denied messages. I have tried changing the file folder restrictions from read only and hidden to none. I have tried this multiple timex with no success. I did NOT have the printer connected to the computer, but after multiple tries, I did try installing the software with the printer connected via the usb cable.

Re: Officejet 5610v software installation,

Try the new HP Print and Scan Doctor.  It helps with common printing and installation issues.  Here is the site for the download: http://h10025.www1.hp.com/ewfrf/wc/softwareDownloadIndex?softwareitem=oj-106151-2&cc=us&dlc=en&lc=en...=

If this doesn't resolve your problem, please reply back and I'll see what I can do to help further.

Re: Officejet 5610v software installation,

I ran the suggested program to fix the problem and it did not work. I received an error message that directed me back to the hp site.

Re: Officejet 5610v software installation,

This is the exact error message and details:

(check) Device  manager

(check) Driver manager

X Windows (WIA) Scan

Windows (WIA) scan error. This tool was unable to resolve the problem even after a restart. Go to HP customer care for help resolving this issue.

Re: Officejet 5610v software installation,

Hey dbear550-

Did you verify that the Windows Image Acquisition (WIA) service was started and set to automatic? You can go to your services menu by going to Start -> Run -> type in services.msc and hit enter. The Windows Image Acquisition (WIA) should be near the bottom.

Re: Officejet 5610v software installation,

The service was set to automatic. I ran the HP print and scan doctor again. It still stopped at the same point with the same message as shown previously.

Hey dbear550-

This document walks through how to diagnose where the installer failed when receiving the "Access Denied" error message. It also provides a few tips on resolving the issue. I'm hoping this will help!
