I'm using Windows XP sp2. The 7280 is new, so I was advised by HP support to completely uninstall all HP software from my computer, then install the 7280 software suite, then use the 'Add Device' menu option on the 7280 installation software to install the 3210 again. I suceesfully installed the 7280 software and am able to access the 7280 over my wireless LAN. However, when I use the 'Add Device' facility in the installation software,I get to the 'Connect Your Device Now' dialog box (following the instructions for USB installation) and when I connect the USB plug for my 3210 to the computer, I get the Windows 'Add Hardware' wizard, which cannot locate the drivers for the 3210. The 'Next' button on the 'Connect Your Device Now' dialog box is not enabled, so I cannot proceed. It seems odd to me that Windows identifies the device but the HP software does not see it. The 3210 is not in my list of printers in Windows.
Even more strangely, yesterday I ran the basic driver and utility download for the 3210 off the HP site after installing the 7280 software (probably shouldn't have done it) and everything worked - I could print on both devices, however this morning when I turned on the computer I got an HP dialog box telling me that the installation failed and it then uninstalled some software, including all the 3210 drivers.
Any suggestions? Do I have to spend 2+ hours uninstalling and re-installing from the start again?

anyways, what i suggest to you is you insert the 3210 CD and then click on install and then complete the installation. try that and tell me what happens.

Well I think I have resolved it, at least as well as is possible. I uninstalled everything, installed just the 3210 drivers downloaded from HP, then installed the full 7280 software suite. Both printers are available and work for printing, but the HP Solution Center software only allows me to access the 7280 AIO, so I'm guessing that I will no longer be able to scan from my 3210 onto my computer - I'll have to use the 7280 for that. I didn't install the full software suite from the 3210 - perhaps that would have given me two HP Solution Centers (two different releases), one for the 3210 and one for the 7280...
Incidently I don't have the 3210 CD - I think I have lost it - so I'm reliant on the HP download page.
