Workaround available for display ”Initializing …” on LJ M1212nf and LJ M1217nfw Printers

[ Edited ]

HP would like to make customers aware of an issue with its LJ M1212nf and LJ M1217nfw Printers. These Printers might fail to upgrade the firmware when running Firmware Update Utility (version 20120901 or later ) or installing the Full Feature Software (Version 5.0, released before Aug 14th ). The Printer may continue to display ”Initializing …” on the control panel. Now, the issue root case of M1212nf has been identified and the corrected and revised version of software and firmware are available online.

In the meantime, we recommend not using the current Firmware Update Utility of M1217nfw if the ePrint feature is not used on your printer. If it’s necessary to update your printer firmware, please use a USB connection and ensure the power supply is stable. HP apologizes for the inconvenience.

If you have the LJ121X series printer and are stuck in initialization, please post here so that HP can reach out to you.
