5585 photosmart bluetooth problems

I tried to find out why I could not print  via  my blue tooth device  and tried a lot of ways to get my friends laptop to print even though the printer was recognized in the blue tooth app.

Here is how I finally solved this problem.

First hook up your HP printer to your computer using a usb cable and make sure you can print while connected to you USB cable. (very important) It this print if you can not print then reinstall drivers until you can print from USB cable connection.

If you can print with usb cable connected now you have installed the printer driver right and it is now showing in printer connections.

Now that all is working (printing)  while hooked up to using your usb cable you are ready for steep two.

I assume now that you have plugged in your blue tooth device that came with your printer into the printer.

blue light should be showing.

Go to your computer and click on blue tooth to do a search for you printer. If you are like me I had done this a million times thinking it should print because it already previously found my printer. You need to remove this previous printer device that is showing  and then let it do a new search for you printer.

It your  printer is now found, it should now work fine.

Just remember when the printing window that allows how many pages and such to print comes up be sure to choose the option for the new printer that blue tooth found. The name will be slightly  different than the USB printer.  It is renamed with a special ending by the Bluetooth  search device.   That is it and you should be good to go.

Review: Remember that your printer must be installed with a usb cable first. then blue tooth next. That is important.

I hope that this works for any one having trouble with printing blue tooth on your hp printer.. Oh I was operating in  window 7 .

These instructions are a no brainier for most doing a new install, but I was helping someone in which the printer had worked before, but stopped working after a malware clean up. you sometimes just go round in circles because all shows to be set up. I had downloaded and reinstalled a new HP printer drivers and such with no luck.  I wanted a bluetooth install and it never gave me that option, just a usb cable install. No short cuts here. got go back  the basics here.  It would be cool if HP would give you a choice of a  bluetooth install instead of just USB.  I think this would help overcome a bunch of problems with bluetooth printing.
