All In One losing wireless connection

I have an HP Officejet 7410 All in One.  I have a new windows 7 computer.  My entire system is wireless.  I installed version 13.1.0 CD on my computer as it has the latest driver for windows 7.  The printer software is up to date.  The printer connects wielessly to my network but  loses the connection several times a day for no apparent reason.  If I turn the printer off, and then back on, the wireless connection is re-established until the next time.  Any suggestions?

Re: All In One losing wireless connection

Let's set a static IP address for the printer:

- Print a Network Config Page from the front of the printer. Note the printer's IP address.
- Type that IP address into a browser to reveal the printer's internal settings.
- Choose the Networking tab, then Wireless along the left side, then the IPv4 tab.
- On this screen you want to set a Manual IP. You need to set an IP address outside the range that the router automatically sets (called the DHCP range). If you know what that is, set an IP outside that range but no higher than 254 (the last number in the address). If you do not know this, enter the current IP address.
- Use 255.255.255.0 for the subnet (unless you know it is different, if so, use that)
- Leave the gateway and DNS blank. Click 'Apply'

Now, shut down the router and printer, start the router, wait, then start the printer.

After this you may need to redo 'Add a Printer' using the new IP address.

Re: All In One losing wireless connection

The "Dell Support Center" program on my computer says  the printer is missing a driver.  Can this be correct?  If so, how can I get the allegedly missing driver?  What can I do to check it out further?

Re: All In One losing wireless connection

Get the latest software for your printer from the "Support & Driver" link at the top of this page.

Re: All In One losing wireless connection

The HP site says everything is up to date!  That's why I'm confused.

Re: All In One losing wireless connection

On the CD there is a program in the utilis/ccc folder labeled something like L3_uninstaller.  Run that to thoroughly uninstall the software, then reboot and finally install the software from the hp site (not the CD).

Re: All In One losing wireless connection

I followed your instructions but unfortunately, there is no change.  Device manager says the following:

"The drivers for this device are not installed. (Code 28)

There is no driver selected for the device information set or element.

To find a driver for this device, click Update Driver."

When I click update driver, it can't find one.

Re: All In One losing wireless connection

Is your Win 7 the 64-bit version?

Re: All In One losing wireless connection

This problem may be associated with automatic Windows Updates.  Turn off automatic Windows Updates, reboot and try it again.   You will have to do manual Windows Updates until this is fixed (we are working on it).
