Hi all,

I have an HP Deskjet 3050A all-in-one J611 series printer which has worked great until today.  Today the wireless button on the printer is flashing blue light (not solid light as normal) and it does not seem to be able to find my network at all.  I am not very technical and have tried everything I can think of but don't know how to solve this issue.  Please can you help?  And if poss describe what to do to solve in laymans terms.

Thanks so much

What brand and model is the router?

What operating system does the computer use?

The flashing wireless light indicates to me that the printer cannot connect to the network with the existing network information (name and password) it has.  Has anything changed at all on the network?

Hi,

Thanks for getting back in touch.

The router is from SKY.  It looks like the specific brand of  router is SAGEMCOM, can't see a model number but it has a MAC number of 7C034C90743A.

I am trying to print from both my iPad and a Lenovo laptop which uses windows, neither are working.

I can't think of anything that has changed on the network, we've been using this setup for over a year now with no issues until now.

Any help you can give would be much appreciated.

It would seem that the printer has just been disconnected from the wireless network somehow.

It just needs to be added back to the network.  There are other ways to do this, but I find using the software's USB to wireless function the most effective.

Follow the steps for your operating system in this document from HP to get the printer on the network again.

I recommend uninstalling the printer software completely before continuing.

You will need a computer on the same network as the printer and a USB cable to transmit the network info to the printer.

Essentially, the following is what needs to happen with the software uninstalled:

1.  Start the installation of the printer.

2.  Select the network option.

3.  Connect the USB cable when prompted.

4.  Disconnect the cable when prompted.

At the end, the printer should be back on the network.

Hello,

Once again thanks for your reply.  Short answer unfortunately is that what you suggested hasn't worked.  I got pretty far with the installation right up until the wireless network connection, when I had the laptop and printer connection via USB cable.  The connection could not automatically find my wireless network name at all (SSID).   It did find two of my neighbours networks, but it couldnt find mine.  So I then tried to manually type in the SSID address which is (SKY0743A).  But again it was unable to find this SSID address.  I did also try it as SKYO743A, even though I am sure is is SKY0743A.  So at this stage I could only cancel the installation.

So I think the issue here is that somehow the printer cannot find my SSID, even though I am connection to that network now as I write to you via iPad and I am also connected to that network on my laptop.

Any further help you can give would be much appreciated.   Gills

This is odd behavior.

When the printer is installed on a computer that is connected the same wireless network, the software is supposed to pull the network information from that computer (ssid, passphrase, etc.) and send it to the printer which allows it to connect the same way the computer did.

When installing the printer from the previous post, was it being reinstalled using a computer connected to the same wifi?  The reason I ask is that the behavior you mentioned is not supposed to happen when the computer is on the same wifi network.

Try resetting the router by pulling the power cord for 1 minute and then reconnecting it and waiting for the lights to return to normal before continuing.  It is possible the router stopped broadcasting the SSID, but computers can still connect since they have the SSID stored.

Alternatively, you can try the steps in this post as I performed those steps on an iPad using a Deskjet 3512.  It is not the same printer, but it is from the same product line and the steps should be the same.

quick solution, find the USB cable, and do not print over wireless

wireless solution (GIVE ME THUMB UP)

1. reset your wireless router (could be power down, power up (Off on , before on, wait 5 minute to drain all electric power of the router) and click tiny hole in router for total reset (this may be troublesome, as you have to remember all SSID and password to reset all over again)

2. before 1, use cellphone to receive wifi -- this is an acid test to make sure your wireless is oke

google for blue light blinking HP 1102w, I got an answer for that !!
