Hi there,
I am unable to scan documents from my HP Officejet 6210 into my MacPro.
MY SETUP:
I've got an HP Officejet 6210 connected to my Airport Extreme, which in turn is connected to my MacPro running OS 10.4.11.
I've got a 2nd computer, a MacBook Pro (OS 10.5.8) which uses the Officejet 6210 to print via wireless.
WHAT WORKS:
I can print from both the MacPro (OS 10.4.11) that's connected to the Airport Extreme with the Officejet connected to the Airport Extreme's USB port and can print from the MacBook Pro (OS 10.5.8) via wireless.
I can scan from Officejet with my MacBook Pro (OS 10.5.8), BUT only via a direct USB connection between the MacBookPro and the Officejet.
WHAT DOES *NOT* WORK:
I have no success scanning from the Officejet with my MacPro via my prefered connection* of having the Officejet at the end of the chain with the Airport Extreme between the Officejet and my MacPro (OS 10.4.1). *THIS IS THE SETUP I HAVE HAD SINCE FIRST CONNECTING THE OFFICEJET TO MY MACPRO THAT I PURCHASED LAST FEBRUARY 2008.
WHAT HAPPENS:
When I press the "Scan To" button on the 6210, the following alert reads:
"No Scan Options. You need to install or run device software for feature."
{FWIW, I have no success scanning from the Officejet when the MacPro (OS 10.5.8) is connected directly to the Officejet via USB cable.}
I don't know if it's Mac-related issue, an OS-related problem with OS 10.4.11 [I currently need the MacPro to remain on OS 10.4.11], an HP software-related issue, or whether it's a networking & wireless-related issue.
Any help towards resolving this matter would be much appreciated.

PrintDoc ~ thank you for your prompt and helpful reply. It at least rules out my being able to scan docs from the Officejet 6210 into my MacPro via Airport.
That said, I am still not able to scan any docs from the Officejet 6210 into the MacPro (running OS 10.4) with a direct connection from the Officejet and I would love to be able to do that.
Currently, I can scan docs from the Officejet into my MacBook Pro (OS 10.5.8) with a direct connection -- and I was able to scan docs from the Officejet into the MacBook Pro when it was running OS 10.4.11.
Can you advise as to what I need to do, install, uninstall, repair disk permissions etc with my desktop machine -- the MacPro -- when it is directly connect to the Officejet in the same way that the MacBook Pro is connected to the Officejet -- so that I can scan docs from the Officejet into the MacPro?
FYI, when I connect the Officejet directly into the desktop machine (MacPro running OS 10.4) and press the "Scan To" button on the 6210, an alert in the rectangular window of the Officejet states:
"No Scan Options. You need to install or run device software for feature."
What device software or specific components could be missing on my MacPro OR conversely, which components need to be removed from the MacPro, in order to have it be able to receive scans from the Officejet when the Officejet is connected directly to the MacPro?
Should I be UN-installing all HP-related software of specific stuff first, before I download and install any new or updated HP software that will fix this issue?
Do I need to be running the HP All-In-One Assistant from my original DVD/CD that came with the printer when I purchased it in 2005?
I tried to run it, however, I could not get past the SELECT DEVICE step on the 2nd Page of the HP All-In-One Assistant where it prompts me to "Select your HP All-In-One device"; when I click on the "USB (Direct Connect) serial button [and please know that the Officejet is directly connected to the MacPro via the Officejet's supplied USB cable], it results in a "No Devices Found" response -- even when I click the "Rescan USB" button at the bottom of that page in the HP All-In-One Assistant.
Please advise :-) And thank-you in advance~!

The Scan-to button on many HP products do not play nicely with Mac OS X. I don't know why.
So, what happens when you start a scan from the Mac (using Device Manager or ScanPro, I am not sure which you have - both are in Application, Hewlett-Packard)?
