Cannot Access IP Web Browser Configuration Page OfficeJet 8600 Plus

Win 7 64-bit

HP OfficeJet Pro 8600 Plus

Wireless Connection

Hi:

The printout of wireless network test page shows IP address for HP Officejet Pro 8600 Plus as: http://192.168.1.104 (The HP Home Network Diagnostic Utility v4.3.0.002 also shows: 192.168.1.104)

When I try to access http://192.168.1.104 with either IE 9 or Firefox 10 I get an error message: "The website is unable to display the webpage"

But, on the same computer I CAN access  http://192.168.1.103 HP Officejet 6480 web browser configuration page with either IE 9 or Firefox 10

Why I can't access the web configuration page: http://192.168.1.104

Thanks

FYI: I set the router to various other network modes, channel widths, channels and ssid broadcast on/off, and also removed power from router and printer, reconnected power and restarted computer, all these efforts did NOT allow access to http://192.168.1.104

Re: Cannot Access IP Web Browser Configuration Page OfficeJet 8600 Plus

I am not sure why you cannot get to the printer's EWS.  However, we could try to change the printer(s) IP address(es):

Let's set a static IP address for the printer:

- Print a Network Config Page from the front of the printer. Note the printer's IP address.
- Type that IP address into a browser to reveal the printer's internal settings.
- Choose the Networking tab, then Wireless along the left side, then the IPv4 tab.
- On this screen you want to set a Manual IP. You need to set an IP address outside the range that the router automatically sets (called the DHCP range).  Yours is 192.168.1.100 to 149.  Let's use 192.168.1.200 & .201 or so for the printers.
- Use 255.255.255.0 for the subnet (unless you know it is different, if so, use that)
- Enter your router's IP (on the Network Config Page) for the gateway.
- Enter 8.8.8.8 for the first DNS and 8.8.4.4 for the second DNS.
- Click 'Apply'.

Now, shut down the router and printer, start the router, wait, then start the printer.

After this you may need to redo 'Add a Printer' using the new IP address.

Re: Cannot Access IP Web Browser Configuration Page OfficeJet 8600 Plus

I can NOT access the printers IP address, so I can not change to static IP

I printed out network configuration page from printer, it showed http://192.168.1.104

When I tried to access that address, I get the following error in IE 9: The website is unable to display the webpage

I CAN access 192.168.1.103 (the IP address of the Officejet J6480)

Any more ideas?

FYI: Under Printer properties, Port tab, clicking on "configure port" this is the error message: "An error occurred during port configuration. Operation could not be completed (error 0x0000007b)"

I already reinstalled HP officejet 8600 software and drivers using a usb connection the second time (instead of wireless) then using HP software changed usb to wireless, still same problems as before.  The reinstall of hp full software and drivers was completed on an earlier disk image of the OS which was made before the first install of hp software and drivers for officejet 8600, so it was completely a fresh install the second time, too.

Re: Cannot Access IP Web Browser Configuration Page OfficeJet 8600 Plus

Solved!

It was an adblock program that was ONLY blocking the .104 address but not the .103 address.  Closing the program allowed Officejet 8600 access to .104

I bought my HP 8600 in Oct 2012.  I had ATT provider.  Now I switched to Cox and the computer does not recognize the printer.  I have a new ip address but cannot get to a place to key it in.  I am  trying to do it myself, please help.

Re: Cannot Access IP Web Browser Configuration Page OfficeJet 8600 Plus

On the front of the printer: Setup > Network > Wireless Setup Wizard.  Run it.

Next, on your PC, delete all instances of your printer in Control Panel > Devices and Printers.

Finally,  re-add the printer this way:

1. Make sure the printer is turned on and connected to your network. Verify that you can access the printer's internal web page by browsing to its IP address before continuing. Get its IP from a Network Test printed from the front panel of the printer.
2. Click >> Start >> Control panel >> Devices & Printers.
3. Click the Add a printer
4. Select Local printer
5. Select Create a new port and select Standard TCP/IP Port and click Next button.
6. Under Device type, select TCP/IP Device. Under Hostname or IP address, enter the printer's IP address. Click Next.
7. Select Hewlett-Packard from the list of manufacturers and select and select your printer model. Click Next.
If your printer model was not listed, then select Have Disk, browse the HP CD that came with your printer and select the first file that starts with hp and ends with inf. Click Open then OK. Select your printer model. Click Next.
8. If you are asked, use the currently installed driver.
9. It will ask for the Printer name -- enter a new name or use the existing one. This will be the name of the printer that you select from other applications.
10. You may be asked to share the printer. Choose NO.
11. The Print Test Page box appears. Go ahead and print it.
12. Click Finish.
