Cannot access ink cartridge carrier on HP Photosmart 5510

I just got a new HP Photosmart 5510 all-in-one Printer and I have not been able to install my ink cartridges because my ink cartridge carrier is stuck where I cannt access it. Isn't it supposed to come out when the ink cartridge door is opened?

Yup, it is supposed to come out.  There may be a piece of packaging tape other packing material in the way.  Open the lid and use a flashlight to see.

It could also be the door switch.  If the sensor detecting the door being open is not tripped, the printer will not send the carriage to the middle.

I'm having an issue with my new printer. Why is it not recognizing the setup cartridges it came with? I followed the intructions to a T. I didn't skip or rush through them. Yet it's not doing anything but telling me my ink cartridges are missing.....Very inconvenient I might add. :smileyindifferent:

I am having the same problem. My magenta and cayan cartridges are loaded correctly (along with the others) but a messsage errors prompts to load magenta and cayan cartridges. Help!

Remove all of the ink cartridges.  Next, lift the lever on the side of the carraige to remove the printhead assembly.

 

Reinstall in the reverse order and retry.

I am having the same issue with not being able to put my ink cartridges in, this is the first time i have opened the box to my printer. It makes the noise as if it is going to slide across and then doesn't move, and a I took what seemed to look like all the tape, please help!

Look for pieces of cardboard or plastic that may still be inside the printer to secure it during shipping.

Same problem here.  Printer new out of the box.  When I power on it makes almost a grinding noise and carrier does not center (stays to the right).  I have triple checked  for tape, plastic, cardboard.
