Re: Change network config on Photosmart C4385

Scratch that last part ... I'm able to reach the printer's internal web page now that I'm back on the hpsetup network.  However, it's not accepting my SSID and WEP keys ... the SSID is the network name and the WEP key is the network password, right?  And these are both things that you create when you first establish your home wireless network?

Re: Change network config on Photosmart C4385

How was this problem solved? My wireless Photosmart C4385 somehow reset and is now connected to hpsetup on the ad hoc network. I've uninstalled and re-installed the SW several times and can't get the printer back on my wireless home network.

I've read through this thread and tried to follow some of the instructions.

I've been able to get to the printer's internal webpage and manually set the mode to infrastructure, and enter my modem's SSID and WEP key but all this did was create a 2nd network connection on my network. For example, I now have my usual secure wireless connection, "myconnection" and also have another unsecured connection "myconnection" which is actually hpsetup.

Re: Change network config on Photosmart C4385

Go back to the printer's web page and run the Setup Wizard, which should be on the first tab in Networking.

It may help to reset your printer's network settings from the control panel first.

Re: Change network config on Photosmart C4385

I have a All-in-One b210a printer that is networked.  But, many time it will not start up when addressed.  It sleeps when I am trying to print and I can not ask for ink levels!  How do I get it to respond better?

Re: Change network config on Photosmart C4385

Let's set a static IP address for the printer:

- Print a Network Config Page from the front of the printer. Note the printer's IP address.
- Type that IP address into a browser to reveal the printer's internal settings.
- Choose the Networking tab, then Wireless along the left side, then the IPv4 tab.
- On this screen you want to set a Manual IP. You need to set an IP address outside the range that the router automatically sets (called the DHCP range). If you know what that is, set an IP outside that range but no higher than 254 (the last number in the address). If you do not know this, enter the current IP address.
- Use 255.255.255.0 for the subnet (unless you know it is different, if so, use that)
- Enter your router's IP (ends with .1) for the gateway and first DNS. Leave the second one blank.
- Click 'Apply'.

Now, shut down the router and printer, start the router, wait, then start the printer.

After this you may need to redo 'Add a Printer' using the new IP address.

Get the latest software for your printer from the "Support & Drivers" link at the top of this page.

Re: Change network config on Photosmart C4385

I have a C4385 configured wireless and what to change it's IP from one acquired via DHCP to a static IP outside of the DHCP range configured in the router.  When I follow the instructions and change the IP address via the webpage on the printer, I then change the IP address on the printer driver port.  I can print just fine, but cannot use the scanner/etc., as any attempt to run HP Solution Center hangs.

Is there a way to set it to a static IP during the installation/setup??

Re: Change network config on Photosmart C4385

Yup, you are so close!  Change the printer's IP via its webpage.  Delete all instances of the printer in Control Panel > Printers.

Restart.

Get the latest software for your printer from the "Support & Drivers" link at the top of this page.  Install it and choose "Network" or "Wireless" installation type when it asks.
