I have a Photosmart C4385. I have recently changed my router and dhcp addressing. The printer still has the old IP addresses (both its URL and the gateway), and now the solution center interface tells me "This product is not configured for networking. No network settings are available."
Short of re-configuring my router, is there any way to set the printer to factory settings? Or to force the printer to re-acquire its DHCP?
Printer is USB connected to Vista Ultimate Svc Pk 1, but I have other computers (including a MAC) that need to connect wirelessly, but cannot "see" the printer's setup broadcast.
I am using a Belkin Wireless router that is set to pass the DHCP from my Netgear VPN Firewall.
The old system used 192.168.2.XXX
New addresses are 192.168.130.xxx, gateway is 192.168.130.1
Yes, SSID with WEP
I think that about covers it... Sorry for the re-post - I read the Good Questions post over again.

The easiest thing to do is to reinstall the SW on the computers and use the USB cable method to transfer the settings to the printer (this is the standard method that you probably used when you first got your printer).
What is the IP address of the printer now? Was the printer configured for a static IP address before you changed the DHCP address range? I assume the SSID and WEP key didn't change on your access-point.
You can reset the printer's network configuration from it's front panel. From here, you can manually add the printer to your network by enabling the radio and connecting to it's ad-hoc network called "hpsetup". Then go to the printer's internal webpage and manually set the mode to infrastructure, SSID and WEP key. Remember that when you apply the SSID and WEP key and mode, the your computer will disconnect from the printer's ad-hoc network as the printer connects to your home network.

I did reinstall to the pc that has a usb connection to the printer, no luck.
Yes, I did configure the printer to static 192.168.2.75, and yes the SSID and WEP key stayed the same.
I tried to disable then re-enable the radio, but since it thinks it is on a different network my wireless laptops cannot see it (my best guess?).
Am I thinking this through right?
Maybe I should just change my DHCP for a few minutes and turn the static IP off on the printer... I hate to mess with the system since I have a VPN to my office. But it is probably easiest, and cheaper than a new computer!
Thanks so much for the effort.

Easiest thing to do is to temporarily set a static IP address on one of your computers to 192.168.2.76 (same subnet as the old printer IP address) and reconfigure the printer's static IP address to the new subnet that you're using.
You can do this from the printer's internal web page.
When your done, reset the computer's IP address to the new subnet address.

I'm having a similar issue. For some reason, my printer removed itself from my home network and created its own ad-hoc network. I'm using the printer with a Mac/AirPort. I've been reading your instructions and am with you until the following:
"Then go to the printer's internal webpage and manually set the mode to infrastructure, SSID and WEP key."
I know my SSID and WEP, but what is the printer's "internal webpage?" And how do I set the mode to "infrastructure." I apologize if this is a stupid question, but I'm befuddled and still can't figure out how my printer ended up on the ad-hoc network to begin with. It literally won't print unless I disconnect from my home network in AirPort and switch over to the "hpsetup" network. Very annoying.
Thanks in advance ...

The printer reset itself. The clue was that it created an ad-hoc network called hpsetup.
There's a nice video here that describes how to manually get your printer back on your home network. While it uses an Officejet, the instructions are very similar for your Photosmart C4385.

The video is great, but when I print my configuration page under "hpsetup" and enter in the URL, nothing happens. It isn't loading.
Should I try a different browser?

What is the IP address?

When I'm connected to hpsetup on the ad hoc network and print out my network configuration page, the URL it's giving me is 169.254.106.206. When I put this into Firefox (after reconnecting to my home network to access the internet), nothing comes up. Any ideas?
