Computer won't connect to printer through network. How do I set up the fax as well?

I'm new here and just beyond frustrated with trying to get this to work for my office.

My other printer wont work through USB since my computer will give me a warning throughout the day that the USB is corrupted. So anyways, I got a new printer and I'm trying to connect to it through the office network. My iPhone prints through it. My computers operating system is Windows 7 64 Bit.

My printer is HP Officejet Pro 8600 all in one

I want to connect to it from the network and I want to set up the fax. When I plug the line into the printer then the ext phone line into my phone my phone doesn't work.

I'm confused! Someone help! Please!!!!!

Follow the steps in the document below to connect printer to your network.

Fax: Make sure you have the phone line plugged into the line 1 port on the back of the printer.

Just an FYI I found out today that somone else in our office has the same printer and I originally set up the network to her printer      -__-
