Honestly, my only recommendation is to get a more standard router.  BT seems to mess with the firmware in ways that make it non-wifi standard, so the printer (which, unlike a PC, needs 24/7 reliable connection to the router) falls off the network.

I have tried to help so many people with BT Homehubs and I think the only thing that has worked is to get another router and add it to the BT, turn the BT wireless off and connect everything to the standard router (Linksys or Netgear).

I seem to be having similar issues.

My 8500A has been working flawlessly for over a year and it suddenly does not connect today. I had been using WiFi and use my computers (PC and Mac) and iPad/iPhone to connect.

I connected the network cable and it still does not work.

I ran the HP Print and Scan Doctor which lists the device on the product table but does not connect to it.

The only thing I have not tried is using a USB cable because I don't have one.

No firewalls set up on any of my devices. Everything is running in my internal network.

Turn the printer off.  Restart your router by pulling its power cord momentarly.  Turn the printer back on.

What operating system?  What router?

I reset my router and turned the printer on/off.... no luck. I suspect the network card is broken, yet when I do a diagnostic test from the printer, it appears to find the network OK.

I use windows XP and 7, Mac OS 10.7.5, iOS 6.0.1; all devices used to print properly and all devices are still table to access the network.

I just managed to print to the 8500 from a laptop connected directed via a USB cable, not no success through the network (wireless or wired). I need wireless printing to work again so that I can use Airplay from iOS devices.

OK it works now. I had to redo the wireless config. So resetting the router did the trick. THanks,

Hi,

I am having the same problem. Mac OS10.7.4, Airport Express base station. It worked fine for the first year or so then it stopped working and now I have to turn the printer off and on sometimes 3 or 4 times before I can print over the wireless network.

I tried downloading the file and reinstalling to no avail. I also reset the modem and airport express to no avail. Any other ideas?

Thanks

Let's set a static IP address for the printer:

- Print a Network Config Page from the front of the printer. Note the printer's IP address.
- Type that IP address into a browser to reveal the printer's internal settings.
- Choose the Networking tab, then Wireless along the left side, then the IPv4 tab.
- On this screen you want to set a Manual IP. You need to set an IP address outside the range that the router automatically sets (called the DHCP range). If you do not know the range, change the last set of numbers (those after the last '.') to 250
- Use 255.255.255.0 for the subnet (unless you know it is different, if so, use that)
- Enter your router's IP (on the Network Config Page) for the gateway.
- Enter 8.8.8.8 for the first DNS and 8.8.4.4 for the second DNS. This is Google DNS. You can choose another external DNS if you wish.
- Click 'Apply'.

Now, shut down the router and printer, start the router, wait, then start the printer.

I can print from my Mac computer and my iPhone but when I try to print from my pc using windows 7 the computer can't find the printer. The pc and the printer are both wirelessly connected to the same wifi. Why can't it find the printer ?

Hi,

Thanks for the tip. I tried that and the printer froze after I made the suggested changes. Now I can't find the printer at all. My username seems to have chaged for some reason it wouldn't let me use richosti again??
