Print a network test from the front of the printer. Does it say that it is connected to your wireless network? Now verify that your PC is on that same network. It could be that one of them is on a neighbor's unsecured network or perhaps you have a guest network that one of these devices is attached to?

Thanks for the info the real problem seems to be with the MAC lion drivere installation. As it did not appear to give any options for switching from USB to wireless in the way that the windows installation set-up does.
I did manage to fix the problem by hooking up a windoes pc to the network and installing the printer driver using the wireless option, and set up the wireless network and Ip address.
I was then able to connect easily on the MAC using the mac installation software..

Wireless connection issue with HP P1102w. USB connection functional but get message- "...computer is unable to communicate with the printer. Noticed from my test printout from the USB installation that the router encryption is WEP which I have learned from the posts in this forum needs to be changed. How do I go about doing this?

Thanks for the prompt reply.
I am residing in Spain and the router is installed by the national service provider Telefonica. The information which you requested is stamped on the back of the all-white router and, I believe, is as follow:
Zyxel
Model: P66OHW-D1
Other information is also indicated and I could send a jpeg if requested.

OK, great, thanks.
Your Internet provider may not allow you to get into the router, but let's try it anyway.
Type 192.168.1.1 into a web browser's address bar. The router will ask for a logn ('admin') and password (leave it empty). Your provider may have changed this, you will need to contact them if that is the case.
Navigate to the Wireles area and change the encryption to WPA-PSK. Create your own password (use 13+ characters, numbers and letters, upper and lower case). This may help - see page 108: ftp://ftp.zyxel.com/P-660HW-D1_v2/user_guide/P-660
Click "Apply" to apply the changes. You will have to change all of your wireless devices to the new password.

Did attempt to "get into the router" but as you intimated but Telefonica did not allow me to take such a liberty. I will have to make a telephone call (in my broken Spanish) to ask them to switch to WPA-PSK encryption and to supply a new "13+ character" password.
Many thanks from here in Spain and I will inform you once my wireless printing is granted me privilege.

I just finished wireless installation of this P1102w model. I was having difficulty with the installation because I was using a WEP security type on my wireless. I recommend you change to a WPA+WPA2 type prior to attempting wireless installation. Once I did that it installed no problem.

Good dvice it works. However everytime we restart the router we have to do it again? Is that suppose to be normal? So everytime it rains and the electricity goes of for half a second we have to do the installation again, Or everytime we just turn of the thing because we loose connection or whatever , reinstall it again over and over.
Any solutions for this>?
