Hey guys, a couple of months ago I purchased a HP LaserJet Professional P1102w and it was working fine but somehow the networking settings got messed up so I decided to access the web settings page and sort them out.
Now, here's where I ran into a problem.
When I clicked on the networking tab, it asked me for a username and password. Now, I'm fairly certain that I did set one but I've forgotten it and I can't seem to get in.
Is there anyway I can get around this? I can prove that this printer is mine, right now I'm having to connect it via USB to print anything which is a big hassle. Please help!
Thank you.

Hi,
If you didn't set up a password, these are some default combinations that may access the setting page.
Username admin
Password just leave this blank
Username root
Password just leave this blank
If this doesn't work try Admin for the username and again just leave the password blank.

Hello, thanks for the help but this didn't work. As I said in my original post, I'm fairly certain that I did set a password so how would I get around it since I seem to have forgotten it.

This might sound dumb but I can't seem to locate a 'Go' button on my printer..? The only buttons I have is the power one, this red one with a cross on it and the WiFi one.
Thanks

Hi,
I believe the following will reset the default wireless settings, but I'm uncertain as to whether it will remove the password/username.
Shutdown the printer. Press and hold both the wireless button and the Red X button and continue holding as you start the printer until the lights all flash together, then release.

I'm having this same problem. I just reformatted by PC, reinstalled the HP 8500 software, configured the printer for wireless and every time I try to scan something it asks for a username and password. Nothing you've documented here works. I've tried browsing to http://192.168.1.6 and trying to change it here asks for it again.
THis is insanity. What an idiotic authentication system.
Any help is appreciated. I have not been able to use my scan features for over six months and this is getting real old.
