Me too. I just tried my second C4780 (from the Apple store) and it, like the one before it, is stuck with the hp logo and just a blue progress bar on the printer screen and the buttons (power button as well) are not functional. The printer(s) worked fine as USB devices, but failed wireless setup and now are stuck. HP support says to try a third, but I'm getting less interested in persuing this and moving on to a different brand... ![]()

Try to change the length of your wireless network name (SSID). Is it 6 characters now? Make it 10 or 12.

Problem: When I use the HP Setup Assistant and try and configure my device for a wireless network, then select my network it just loads and loads. I've tried everything I can think of, you're my last hope. Please help!
Wireless Network Test Report:
Wireless ON: PASS
WIreless working: PASS
SSID Found : FAILED
Security: PASS
IP Address: NA
All tips/tricks that I've found require the printer's IP address and I cannot locate it.

Which router are you using?

FIrst, do not use WEP security. Change to WPA or WPA2 with a strong password (13+ characters) that you create.
Sometimes DSL providers have more control over the router than the printer likes.
- Unplug the telephone line from the router
- Turn the power off on the router, wait 30 seconds, then turn the power back on.
- Go through the normal process of connecting the printer to the router.
- Now find the IP address of the printer (it should be on the self-test printout), type it into a browser.
- On that screen you will find a Networking Tab, then on the left Wireless, then the IPv4 Tab.
- On this screen you want to set a Manual IP. You need to set an IP address outside the range that the router automatically sets (called the DHCP range). If you know what that is, set an IP outside that range but no higher than 254 (the last number in the address). If you do not know, use the current IP address.
- Use 255.255.255.0 for the subnet (unless you know it is different, if so, use that)
- Leave the gateway and DNS blank
- Finally, plug in the phone line, reboot the router and test.
