Hi -
I downloaded and re-installed the driver two days ago, and the printer is "offline" again, although everything is on. I do have a static ip address.
Any other ideas are welcome. re-installing the driver every two days is not a good solution.

OK, I installed this, and it's working now... I'll see how it does in a few days, since the last fix lasted two days. I'll write again after that. Hopefully this will do the trick.

Several days later, the wireless connection to the printer is holding fine. Thank you so much for this.
Since you're working for HP, maybe you could suggest to them that they replace the driver the website takes you to when you type in "Envy printer driver" with this one, which works way better.
thanks again for your help!

Dean,
I am having a very similar problem with my Envy 114 D411C printer. I've spoken with an HP Case Manager and am being told it is my computer which is causing the problem.
Have you, by chance, got a similar solution for my printer running under Windows XP ???
If I leave the computer on for a "period of time" I lose connection with the wireless printer. The only way I can restore it is to REBOOT the computer. Any suggestions, please?

First, on the front of the printer: Setup > Preferences > Set Auto-off > Off. If it was already off, it is probably not the printer.
When the PC loses connection with the printer, Download and run this utility: http://h20180.www2.hp.com/apps/Nav?h_pagetype=s-92

Dean,
At this moment the printer and computer are communicating. The AUTO OFF function you mentioned was set to OFF.
I have downloaded the file you referred me to and will execute it when the devices next stop communicating. From what I've found so far, it takes several hours for them to stop talking to each other. I expect it will happen again by tomorrow morning.
I will advise at that time. Thanks for your help so far. I hope we can ultimately get this resolved.

Dean,
It seems like the problem has been resolved. I HAD 2 firewalls working on my computer. Windows & Norton. I have disabled the Windows firewall. In addition, somewhere I read something about the UPnP option on one's router. I saw that mine was ENABLED. I have now DISABLED that option.
Since making those 2 changes I have not encountered the failure that would require a re-boot of the computer. Now, if the printer goes to sleep (assumedly after the computer has also), I simply do SOMETHING on the computer and the printer comes "back to life".
I don't know if this is quite utopia, but at least I feel that the printer will work for me when I need it to do so. I would add that the printer installation documentation should probably alert the user to these possible causes for trouble.
For anyone seeing this for the first time ......... keep in mind that my issue was on a WINDIWS XP computer, not a MAC.
