HP InkJet 5550 Over Network [ Edited ]

Hello,

I have a DV7-1223ca laptop, which has has Vista64 Home Premium.  I have the Hp Inkjet 5550 printer connected to a XP Pro 32 through a parallel port.  I am having difficulties installing the printer on my Vista 64 system over the network.  It continues to give me the error that it does not have the proper drivers to install the printer. 

I was wondering how to properly install the printer and what drivers I need to install and on what system.

I am having the same problem. I have 3 PC's on a Windows home network tied together through a Dlink router. I have XP on 2 machines and Vista 64 bit on the other. I have the printer Photosmart C5550 connected to one XP machine via USB port. I can add it to the other XP machine and print there. When I try to add to my Vista 64, it gives me same message as you. I can see the printer on the network from Vista but can't install. Spent along time on phone with support teck and he told me you couldn't share this printer with Vista and XP on a network. That's terrible lack of compatability. I had a PSC2355 all in 1 that shared just fine for several years before it cratered this week.

Solution for any OS :

install new printer- local printer- new "local port" and put unc printer on it \\computerXP\myprinter\, select the dealer and model.
