HP Officejet 4500 wireless connect setup problem

I just set up my Officejet 4500 wireless(Model G510). My network was detected by installation CD and manual wireless wizard setup, but not by automatic wireless wizard. After connecting, both showed the result  "printer cannot find the router, please check if the network name and password are correct". However I am certain the network detected and password were correct. Could you help me on this issue? Thanks!

What router?  What kind of encryption (WEP, WPA, etc)?  What operating system?

Re: HP Officejet 4500 wireless connect setup problem

Hey, sortoff have the same problem.

Here is my current setup and actions I have taken:

1) The "Officejet 4500 wireless" successfully connected via usb to my desktop PC running windows 7 and it prints.

2) I have installed the software that came with the product.

3) I have a Netgear router (WPA) connected to my PC with a network cable. This router has wireless capability.

4) Using the screen on the printer I could successfully connect to the router.

Now my problem is that when I plug out the USB cable, I cant connect to the printer via the wireless router. I dont have any antivirus programs to block the connection.

Any advice please?

Re: HP Officejet 4500 wireless connect setup problem

Hi thanks for your support. Following my router setting info.:

OS- Window 7

Router: Cisco Linksys E2000

Router Setting:

Encryption WPA2- Personal

TEK

Passphrase is my phone number, so it contains no letter that could be capitalized.

I'm sure the current network name is correct. Could you advise if there is anything I should check for the wireless detection?

Re: HP Officejet 4500 wireless connect setup problem

Try changing from WPA2 back to WPA with the same password.

Re: HP Officejet 4500 wireless connect setup problem

Great! Thank you for your reply. I changed my WPA2-personal to WPA-personal last night and successfully installed the printer. However, I couldn't access my Window 7 browser due to the change. Is WPA the only accepted encryption type for the printer? Otherwise thank your team's support. :smileyhappy:

Re: HP Officejet 4500 wireless connect setup problem

I am thinking that the printer only supports WPA, not WPA2.  If your router has a WPA/WPA2 Personal mode, use that.  Otherwise you are stuck with WPA, sorry.

You may have to re-login to the wireless network on Win 7 to have it accept the new password type.
