Hello, I have had a persistent problem with this printer which appears that it loses connectivity, however a diagnostic page revealed that it was connected to my wireless router and ready to go! I don't know what to do and am getting extremely frustrated with this printer. It was working fine, albeit I don't use it that often, and when I went to use it recently it didn't print and I noticed it was out of two different inks. I replaced the ink, printed a test page, and tried to reprint. No luck! It says there was an error printing but won't say what kind of error. The computer recognizes the printer, it is set to default, it is NOT set to work offline, what else should I do? Thanks for any help you can give to resolve the current situation, and to determine why this constantly happens!

What operating system? Tell me about your network - router brand/model, encryption type (WEP, WPA, etc) and ISP type (DSL, Cable, etc).
In the mean time, download and run this diagnostic.

I have been a DEVOTED fan of HP products for several years.
However, after all of the problems I've had with the Officejet HP8000 printer, I KNOW I will NOT buy a HP printer in the future. I'm writing this from my HP Pavilion laptop and I can guarantee that I will never buy a HP printer again. It'll be a brother wireless. It is an absolute joke that I have to guess if I'm going to be able to print each day. My desktop stopped printing months ago and it's 70/30 if I can print from my laptop. Most days I have to go to the public library to print. This Offline problem has definitley deterred me & evryone close to me from ever buying a HP printer again. It's ridiculous!!!!!!!!

Did you want help fixing it? If so, how is the printer connected? If wireless, what router? What operating system?

I am using an IMAC OSX Lion operating system. The HP printer is not being used with a wireless connection. I chose to go the USB cable route a long time ago. However, for quite some time now, the printer goes offline periodically without any explanation. It says that the printer is NOT CONNECTED but that is not the case. How can I get it back online?

If you have HP software in your Applications folder that was not specifically meant for 10.7 (Lion), uninstall the software using the 'scrubber' option:
Go to Applications/Hewlett Packard/ click on HP Uninstaller
Click on Continue
Highlight your device on the left pane
Press and hold Control + Alt + Cmd keys on the keyboard simultaneously while you click on Uninstall <<<< This IS the Scrubber Option, there is no button labeled "Scrubber"
There will be a pop up that asks if you are sure you want to uninstall ALL hp software. (At this point, if you continue, any HP printers you have installed will need to be reinstalled)
Click Continue and let it finish
Restart your Mac
Download and install this: http://support.apple.com/kb/DL907
Now reset the printing system:
- Sys Prefs, Print & Fax
- Right (control) click in the rectangle listing your printers and select Reset Printing System.
WARNING - this will delete ALL of your printers!
- Select the plus sign to re-add it. Look for the printer, select it and wait until the "Add" button becomes available. Click it.
