HP Officejet Pro 8500 A909g goes offline all the time

My husband's laptop shows the printer as being off, but it isn't. It's on. He needs to print desperately! He is using Windows 7.
I am able to print on that printer with MY laptop, however, which tells me it's something funky on his end. But what? I have no idea and he is about to pull his hair out.
Any help/ideas/suggestions will be appreciated.

After digging around the forums for a bit, I did find a bit of help on a similar post. Going into the Control Panel, Printers, right-clicking on the printer in question, and then clicking on Properties, I clicked on Port and asked my husband what it showed for him on his computer. His showed a different port. I said, "Do you see one that says this?" which right now I don't remember, but he said 'yes' and I asked him to change it. He did, and then he tried to print his document, and voila! Yippee! He'll change it also on his notebook.
