HP Officejet Pro 8600 Plus - What does HP Officejet Pro 8600.exe exactly do ?

Hi,

the HP Officejet Pro 8600 Plus installation from CD installs some Desktop icons, among them one that points to

"C:\Program Files\HP\HP Officejet Pro 8600\Bin\HP Officejet Pro 8600.exe".

Clicking on that icon nothing happens, though a process with the name HP Officejet Pro 8600.exe appears in the Task Manager of Windows 7. Clicking anew starts a next process.

My Question 1: What is supposed to happen ?

My Question 2: I am still looking for the HP printer setup, though I could finish my installation via the webserver, there should be a also a desktop application. If HP Officejet Pro 8600.exe starts this desktop application, what do I do wrong ?

The executable your seeing is the printer's controll panel on the computer.  It replaced Solution Center on the newer printers.  The reason it's not opening is because the pritner has not been completely installed.  To finish the install click on the start menu, select all programs, find and select the HP folder, select the 8600 folder, and select add a device (it may be labled Printer Setup and Software).  That should let you finish the install and access the printer.

Thank you for your quick reply. However, as it seems there was a different problem behind the problem described. There is a problem under Windows 7 with the display of Hardware and Devices if Bluetooth is deactivated. Microsoft offers a hotfix for this that solved both problems.
