HP P1102w Wifi issue on a Mac

Running a Mac w/ Snow Leopard

Followed all installation procedures.  I have manually set-up my router name/password and the info is saved and accepted.  Problem is, when I take out the USB cord it doesnt talk.  USB hooked up, everything is fine, obviously.

Any help would be appreciated.

Re: HP P1102w Wifi issue on a Mac

HP P1102w on wireless netgear router with macbook pro.  Just got this printer with hopes that it would work out of the box as claimed for macs but no such luck.  same exact problem.  followed install instructions, uninstall and re-install, reboot, troubleshooting but still not able to print wirelessly.  usb works fine.  wireless settings setup manually via HP printer utility.  blue wifi indicator displays solid blue (appears to find wireless network) but still not printing wirelessly.  HP Print Experts - please help...

thx-

ray

[ Edited ]

problem solved:  once wireless settings are set and blue wifi light is solid (this means your printer is connected to your network successfully) go to your system settings (printer/fax) and delete the existing P1102w printer (or whatever your wireless printer is.  make sure your usb printer cable is disconnected and then add (+) a new printer.  your macbook will look for available printers.  select your printer and try printing.

Re: HP P1102w Wifi issue on a Mac

This fix did not work for us.  We are a school using 100+ computers (both Apple and PC) all connected to a LAN with manually assigned IP addresses.  Additionally, the school uses 15 printers, all laser printing models manufactured by HP, Brother, Kodak etc.  Most of the printers are connected to the LAN via wire but some are wireless.  We recently purchased four HP-P1102  printers as replacements and with the intention of connecting them to the LAN wirelessly.

Not one  of the P1102's will print from any of our Apple computers but will print from ALL of our Microsoft operated PC's.  To reiterate all connections for these printers are wireless.

Re: HP P1102w Wifi issue on a Mac

I am not an expert in LaserJets, but since no one else is helping, I'll try.

The P1100 series is not supported in Snow Leopard according to this.

There is, however, support via a generic driver.

Let's start with a reset of the printing system:

- Sys Prefs, Print & Fax
- Right (control) click in the rectangle listing your printers and select Reset Printing System.
WARNING - this will delete ALL of your printers!
- Select the plus sign to re-add it. Look for the printer, select it, then choose "Generic PCL Laser Printer" and wait until the "Add" button becomes available. Click it.
