Re: HP P1102w Wifi issue on a Mac

If your IP is 0.0.0.0 then the printer is not attached to the router.

Re: HP P1102w Wifi issue on a Mac

I still cannot get into the HTML Config settings to set up the wireless per HP instructions. Is there another way to set up wireless printing? Does the most recent driver not work with OSX 10.7.1?

When will that be updated?

Re: HP P1102w Wifi issue on a Mac

Yes. That was the first thing I did. The information on the box said that it only supported up to 10.6, so I went to the website first to download the latest driver. The printer works great when connected with USB, but I bought the printer for wireless printing.

When I get into the HTML Config, I get the 2 error messages mentioned eariler in my post. I deleted the drivers and reinstalled them. I made sure I had the most up-to-date firmware. I tried adding the printer through the IP address printer set-up, but if I am getting the 0.0.0.0 IP address, then it is not reading it.

Re: HP P1102w Wifi issue on a Mac

Turn the printer off, then cycle power on the router.  After the router boots, turn the printer on.  Print a self-test from the front of the printer.  Does it show a valid IP address?  If not, you need to connect it to your router, which it seems is the issue here.

Time for the big guns.  We need to connect to the printer directly:

1. Restore the default wireless settings:  a. Turn the product off.  b. Press and hold the wireless button and the cancel button, and then turn the product on.    c. Hold the buttons until all the lights blink in unison, and then release the buttons.

2. On your computer, using the Airport icon in the menu bar, search for the printer's wireless signal. It will begin with "hp".  Connect to it.

3. Print a self test from the front of the printer to get its IP address (it should be a 169.254.x.x IP).

4. Type that IP into the address bar of a web browser on your Mac.

5. Navigate to the Network (or wireless) tab, then run the Wireless Setup WIzard.

6. Follow the instructions to connect the printer to your wireless router's signal.

7. Re-connect your Mac to your wireless nework using the Airport icon in the menu bar.

Finally, reset the printing system:

- Sys Prefs, Print & Fax
- Right (control) click in the rectangle listing your printers and select Reset Printing System.
WARNING - this will delete ALL of your printers!
- Select the plus sign to re-add it. Look for the printer, select it and wait until the "Add" button becomes available. Click it.

Re: HP P1102w Wifi issue on a Mac

Got it to work. I just accessed the HTML Config from my MacBook Pro that has OSX 10.6. That was the missing piece to get the Wi-fi working on my network and talking to my iMac.

Thanks for the help.

Re: HP P1102w Wifi issue on a Mac

Yes - this worked well. Just tried it on my 10.6.8 Mac.

Hey HP!! I would have replied sooner with my results but HP's forum registration is as bad as DHS security in airports. Please fix this "unfriendly" registration process!!!! Do you really need a complex password to access the forum? you overestimate your importance and provide barriers to your customers.

0.0.0.0 means that the printer is not connected to the network. Make sure everything is up-to-date and you have no firmware updates. Have you tried unplugging the router from power and allowing it to sit for roughly 30 seconds, then turn it back on. The next step would be setting a static IP for your printer.

You can provide more information about your setup? I didnt see any other posts by  you.

Thanks!

Re: HP P1102w Wifi issue on a Mac

I've tried all the above.  No joy.  I was able to connect to the printer, but the network configuration never seemed to complete.  I left it running for about 20 minutes.  I turned the printer off, let it sit for about a minute, back on.  The wireless light keeps flashing rapidly, obviously it's searching for a network, but it never connects.  And now I don't even see the the printer name listed in networks.  I'm about ready take a sledghammer to this thing.
