Re: HP Photosmart B109a-m NOT able to connect

Another way to connect the printer to your wireless is with WPS (Wi-Fi Protected Setup) if your router supports it.  What brand/model router do you have?

Re: HP Photosmart B109a-m NOT able to connect

I also have the same problem, no usb and it seems like i need one.

Same printer the HP Photosmart B109a, I am using an iMac and have a router: D-Link (DSL-G604T)

No idea what to do! At the stage where I am on 'Select Device' using the CD.

Any help appreciated!

Re: HP Photosmart B109a-m NOT able to connect

Your D-Link does not have WPS, so it looks like you will need a USB cable (but just during setup, so you could borrow one from another device or a friend...).

The setup is pretty easy, but do not use the CD that came with the printer if you have Snow Leopard.  If you have Snow Leopard, use this.

Re: HP Photosmart B109a-m NOT able to connect

I borrowed the USB from a friend and finished downloading on the link you gave, it is recognised and prints fine with the USB in.

My next step is to work it without the USB...if my printer is wireless...which I thought it was but I could be wrong!!!!

Thank you very much for your help.

Re: HP Photosmart B109a-m NOT able to connect

The USB cable is only used to configure the printer for your network (tell it what SSID and passphrase is used, etc).  After the printer knows how to connect to your wireless network the USB cable is no longer needed.

Re: HP Photosmart B109a-m NOT able to connect

Run the installation CD and it will ask you whether you want to do a USB install or a network install.  You may have clicked through that portion and ended up with a USB connection. Run the installation CD again.

Re: HP Photosmart B109a-m NOT able to connect wirelessly

I have the same problem

OS X 10.6.2

HP B109a (which, despite claiming to come with a USB cable, did not - fortunately I had one to hand)

I have downloaded the updated drivers (which do not appear to include all of the software which came on CD, so you do need the CD also).

I have used both the CD install programme and the downloaded update.  I can scan and print fine by USB.  However, neither install programme included a wireless option, and the printer is not recognised if I remove the USB.

Please can you suggest a solution, as I purchased this printer with my iMac on the basis that it was wireless. I cannot use it by USB beyond setup as I have no space for it.

Thank you.
