Is your SSID hidden?  Is that why you have to type the SSID into your printer/software?

Hiding the SSID is not in the least a security measure.  Anyone can see your SSID with freeware from the Internet.

Oh, well, I am not sure if it is a firmware bug or not.  I have heard of this with older printers, but not the 2010 printers (and newer).

Is the firmware on your printer current (enable Web Services from the front of the printer).

I didn't realize that you could do that (what does it do, check for firmware itself and then ask if it can update itself?), but I did look at the Web site and saw only one firmware update. Since the only listed fix was something that I don't use ("This update corrects an issue when accessing albums in your Snapfish account when using the "Snapfish" selection on the printer control panel"), I didn't update to it.

Go ahead and enable Web Services from the front panel.  You will know it is complete when it prints the page with the printer's email address on it.
