I bought a C6380 a few days ago and have been tearing my hair out ever since.
After installing the software and drivers the scanner will work over the wireless network, but I cannot print. The print job is queued, the printer looks like it is about to process the print job, but once it has collected the paper from the tray it stops completely until it times out. Windows displays the print job as incomplete and continues to try to print until it is cancelled from the queue. Yet the scanner works fine on this computer via wireless.
The printer is working with this computer via USB and on 2 computers over the network flawlessly so this is not a router/network issue and the Kaspersky firewall is configured the same on all 3 systems. Secondly I have the printer working on a machine with the same OS (Windows XP SP3) so I don't believe the wireless drivers are at fault.
Any ideas what could be causing the problem and how to fix it? I am considering reinstalling Windows on the system but that is the last resort.

I have tried uninstalling and reinstalling the drivers from the CD, and the latest drivers from the HP website.
I seriously need some help before I resort to reinstalling Windows.

Usually people have the opposite problem -- they can print but they can't scan.
Since your two other computers on your network can see the printer, we know that the printer is on your network and connected. So, let's manually install the print queue on your XP machine.
Before we start, verify that you can access the printer's internal web page by browsing to the printer's IP address. You can find the printer's IP address by printing out the Network Configuration page from the printer's setup menu.
From your XP machine:
- Click "Start" button --> Printers and Faxes.
- Delete the old C6380 print queue.
- Under Printer Tasks, click "Add Printer".
- Click "Next" button on the Add Printer Wizard window.
- Select "Local printer attached to this computer". Deselect "Automatically detect and install My Plug and play printer". Click "Next".
- Under Select a Printer Port option, select "Create a new port" and select "Standard TCP/IP Port" and click "Next" button.
- In the "Welcome to the Add Standard TCP/IP printer port wizard" make sure that the printer is turned on and connected to same network that your computer is connected to. Click "Next" button.
- Under "Add Standard TCP/IP Printer Port" enter the printer's hostname. You can also use the printer's IP address if it's static. Click "Next" then click "Finish".
- Now, select HP from the list of manufacturers, select your printer from the list of Printer models and click 'Next' button.
- If you can't find your printer, you'll need to find the install CD and use the "Have Disk" option to select one of the hp*.ini files. Alternatively, you can select another HP printer model from the same type.
- Add the print spooler name and click "Next".
- Click "Next"
- Click "Next" and then "Finish"
I don't have a XP machine handy anymore so I hope I got the sequence correct (I should be close). Please tell me if I got anything wrong.

You got the sequence spot on. I should have mentioned in my previous post that I have tried adding the printer automatically via the HP interface, and manually through the steps you outlined above and still no joy. I even tried again for good luck and still the same issue.

Remind me which of your computers are wilrelessly connected to your network and which are connected via LAN cable?
Is the C6380 wirelessly or LAN cable connected?

Main PC - Windows 7 (Wired) Working
Netbook - Windows XP SP3 (Wireless) Working
Laptop - Windows XP SP3 (Wireless) Not Working
*Laptop2 - Windows XP SP2 (Wireless) Not Working
The printer is networked via the wireless interface.
*I just tried setting up the printer through a wireless connection on a spare XP laptop from my partners work and this has the same issue of not spooling print jobs as our laptop, although this other laptop has XP SP2 which I believe has issues with wireless printers anyway. When it is upgraded I will let you know if the issue is still there on this second laptop.

I have a HP C6380 Photosmart all in one printer that was purchased in 2008 and it is wireless.
I received for Christmas a New HP Notebook and I ma trying to install the printer to the Notebook but it tells me that I don't have the drive needed on the CD that came with the Printer.
What can I do to install the printer as the Notebook is WINDOWS 7 and the Printer is XP/Vista.
Is there a Drive I can download so that I can use the Printer on my HP Notebook?
I do not nor will I purchase another Printer just for the Notebook
The Printer works on my Desktop just fine.
Any assistance in this matter will be most appreciated.

Please download the updated drivers for Windows 7 onto your new laptop and run the setup program. You can find the C6380 SW here.

Hopefully I'm working this forum correctly. I have a HP C6380 printer that has been working great. I recently reloaded the CD driver so it would work wirelessly with my Cradlepoint wireless router from 3-G that uses my Verizon aircard. Now I can print from either my HP laptop or my Toshiba. It works flawlessly.
Now the problem. It has also scanned and then printed the scanned item great in the past. Just last night, I tried to scan an item and it showed up as a completely black page over the item I wanted copied. I can just see the edge of the item that should have been copied.
Does anyone have an idea of the problem here. I sure need an answer, as the printer is used almost every day, and the scanner is used frequently.
Thanks,
Rob
