You are right. I just tried to use HP solution center to scan and it says it is already running and to try later so there goes my hope of it being fixed out the window again!

This reply is for/to JACKIETOOLS.
I redid the link but for some reason stuff is getting/being added to the end of the link.
Anyhow, to get it to work, click on the link I provided in my post and when you get there and it says page does not exist, remove everything after the word program in the address bar and click enter.
Click the link below or, just copy and paste this into your address browser and then click enter...If you see this >>> %EF%BB%BF <<< after the word program in the address bar after you click on it, remove only this >>> %EF%BB%BF <<< and then click enter again.

TO JACKIETOOLS AND ANYONE ELSE... if the way I fixed mine isn't working for you it could be one of two things. The program isn't uninstalling properly which is why you should check and make sure. Even if it doesn't show up in your programs and features or add remove programs, CHECK.BE SURE TO CHECK YOUR REGISTRY EDITOR. To get there, go to and click start. In the search bar type regedit and click enter.
But another thing I noticed, when mine wasn't working I noticed the HP Solution Center that wasn't working is/was a different version then the ones that were and or are working on my other 2 computers and is now also working on this one.
When it wasn't working it was version 13.0. something. something .something. And the version of the HP Solution Center that now works on this one and the other 2 computers is version 140.0.14.18.
All I can tell you and do for you, because I HAD THE SAME EXACT PROBLEM, is tell you and show you how I fixed mine and got it to again work properly.
It's obvious HP doesn't reply and hasn't fixed it and probably won't.
However, I will also offer this up as to why they may never? My brother, who is a brainiac, told me HP is getting out of the PC. Not sure if this means printers also but I wouldn't doubt it. And I don't think he'd tell me something he didn't believe true himself.
Anyhow. Just make sure the program is totally uninstalled. Do what the link above and I previously supplied on how to force install, AND REMOVE THE ENTIRE FOLDER AND IT"S CONTENTS. THE FOLDER I REMOVED WAS IN THE LEFT COLUMN, EVEN THOUGH IT SAYS THE RIGHT. THE FOLDER, HP SOLUTIONS AND IMAGING TOOLS. My brother spoke to his IT people ansd they told me to just remove the folder on the left and all the stuff in it on the right that shows when you click on it will delete also.
Then, fine your printer, find your correct operating system for your printer, AT HP, and download the FULL SOFTWARE DOWNLOAD.
That's what I did, that's what workked for me and that's all I can tell you. to help.
FWIW, I just clicked on the HP SOLUTION CENTER icon in the taskbar tray on the lower right and though my ptinter is off, it still opened properly.

I think it is working now. When I went into device manager it showed 2 printers installed (both 6500's) I deleted both from device manager and then re ran the install as "add a device" and for now it is working. Whatever your solution did, with a little tweaking seems to be working now THANKS

Good to hear JACKIETOOLS.
And, if you're anything like me, until some time goes by, everytime you go to open it you'll hold your breath just a little until it opens. And then when it opens you can breathe a sigh of releif. lol
Again, glad it's working for you.

Dexter, Thank you for the solution. It worked well for me although I do have one question. The service 'hpqcxs08' is not listed in my services.msc. How do I fix this issue? Thank you!
