Hello everybody,
i just bought and tried to install my new printer, but got some errors. I have to use it in wireless mode only, but the printer has got IP 169.254.218.126 and can't be added to my network.
("Your printer has limited connectivity. Your printer is using IP address 169.254.218.126 which is not compatible with the IP address 192.168.1.2 of the PC.")
I presume this is due to my network settings: i got a router (d-link DSL-G624T) without DHCP support (i establish my computer's ip) and i would like to "force" my printer to be 192.168.1.9, but i don't know how.
I tried to follow this discussion, but i can't access the printer via browser.
Any suggestion? I'm getting mad ![]()

No DHCP? Well that sucks. But do you use a laptop with built-in wireless?

The router manages the DHCP protocol, but i disabled it time ago.
To connect my PC (win 7) to the router, i use a D-Link AirPlus G DWL-G122 Wireless USB Adapter.

If the router does have DHCP, then enable it temporarily and reconnect the printer to the network. Once this is done, you can log onto the printers' embedded web page and set a manual IP as desired, and then turn off DHCP.

Without a DHCP server, the printer will assign itself an automatic IP address that starts with 169.254. You can access the printer via that IP address and you can find that address by printing out the network configuration page from the printer.

I am having the same issue. the same printer is giving me the same IP address. When I try to browse that IP using my internet explorer or any other browser though, it will not load the printers internal settings. It gives me page cannot be displayed error.
Thoughts?

What's the distance between the printer and the router? Is there anything inbetween them that might block the signals, like a wall? Which router are you using?

Jason,
It would help to know your Router brand, what encryption you are using (WEP/WPA?) and if you are using all default settings on your router.

I'm writing here to tell about i solved it.
I enabled the dhcp server on the router and reconfigured all my net. Then i reinstalled the printer as the procedure says and now the printer has a new legal IP and can be accessed from the browser. I'm going to keep dhcp server on siince now ![]()
Thanks all!

Keeping DHCP on is definitely a good thing. Makes the job of IP management SO much easier. Glad it worked. Cheers!
