HP deskjet F4500 All-in-One-- Can't get the wireless to work

Hello,

This might be a very quick fix because I'm not very good with computers but I can not get my printer to become wireless using the router I use with my computer.

I printed out the Configuration Page and got the following:

Network status--offline

Active connection type--none

Wireless On--Pass

Wireless Working--Pass

Network name found (SSID)--Pass

Security--Pass

Printer settings consistent with wireless router settings--pass

No filtering--FAIL

Connected--Not run

Please help me ASAP I'm trying to get it to work before my semester starts.

Thank you!!

Tell me about your network - router brand/model, encryption type (WEP, WPA, etc) and ISP type (DSL, Cable, etc).

Router-- Belkin "G" I think the model number is F5D7234-4, the side of the box says Wireless Security- WPA, WPA2, Wi-Fi Protection Setup 64-bit, 128-bit WEP encryption so I'm not sure which one.

ISP type is cable

Re: HP deskjet F4500 All-in-One-- Can't get the wireless to work

Can you get into the settings of the router and check which security type you are using?  You listed those it supports but you can only choose one.

If its WEP, I highly recommend against it.  It is not secure and can cause connectivity problems.  Switch to WPA or WPA2 with a 13+ character password you create.

You can access your router's settings by going typing 192.168.2.1 into a web browser.  There is no password.

OK, now insert the printer CD and run the installer, selecting "Network" installation when it asks.  Make sure to NOT have the USB cable installed between your printer and PC when you start the installation.  It will ask you to temporarily install the USB cable during the installation.

Get the latest software for your printer from the "Support & Drivers" link at the top of this page.
