Somewhere on your computer is a file HPHNDU.exe. That is the culprit. It's the file you downloaded this piece of HP rubbish onto your computer. Get rid of it. To do this you will need change its name to HPHNDU.old or some other mythical extension. It will ask you if you really want to change the name because HP think you are an idiot, idiots that they are. It won't let you delete the file as a ".exe" file hence the name change. Once you've changed the name....delete the frigging thing and buy Cannon or Epson or anything else next time.

Per the responce given, I tried to find the file HPHNDU.exe to change the name & then delete it. BUT I can't find it OR
anything simular to it (I've been working on this off & on for most of the weekend)
HOW DO I stop this service??

Been struggling with this for months now. Try clicking on start then run type in services.msc When HP Diagnostics comes up click stop

Hi Everyone,
I'm trying to reproduce this issue but I have been unsuccessful so far. Can anybody give me more details on the environment in which this problem was encountered? What OS were you using when this occurred (i.e. Win7, Vista, XP, 64 or 32-bit)? What version of the utility was being used (i.e. 4.1.0.096, 4.1.0.074, 4.0.0.061, 3035)? What kind of system were you using (i.e. HP Laptop, IBM thinkpad)?
If you can't answer all the questions answer what you can. Any information will be appreciated.
Thanks in advance.

One more thing, an easier fix to this problem is to run the HP Home Network Diagnostic Utility and then when the first dialog appears click the close button. The utility will uninstall the service if the "close" button is used.

Thanks, just removed it and laptop now OK
Using s/w version (unknown) but downloaded from HP only a few days ago for my new HP3500 printer.
XP Pro SP2, compaq NC6120
First install failed to hear printer so printing worked but scanning and ink check did not.
Uninstalled using the HP uninstall and re-installed which overcame the scan problem but had used the diagnostic service which is how I got the bad s/w
used uninstall again but add/remove programs still had most of the HP software installed so removed from there as well. Still a problem so tried the open and then close approach and this resolved the problem. Now about to try another install.
Hope this is useful to you if you can get HP to both fix this problem and to make their uninstall do what it is supposed to do and remove everything.
David
