This option is already on. Here you see in a screenshot what happens. On the XP-machine => Add printer => Networkprinter => Ok => OK. Here it says it doesn't know which inf-file to use:

Hi fheinen2,
What happens if you redirect to the c:\windows\system 32 folder?

I'm wondering if it could be a language problem. On Win 7, all is in dutch. The driver on the HP-site is English. I can choose "Change language" on the site, but there is no dutch there.
What I've done: first I've installed this - English - software again on XP. At the end it comes up with an error, although it just prints fine if I connect the Deskjet there:
Then I connect the printer to Win 7 and do as you suggest. I start with "Add printer", point to the printer on 7 and point to the System32-folder. Windows then fills in: $ncsp$.inf:
Then, again, comes back saying he needs *.inf:
It ends like this:
That's "Failure on install. Can't proceed".

Hi fheinen2,
It appears you may have an issue with your windows XP computer if you are not successfully able to install the printer without getting an error message. If you are interested in a network printer check out the current models at the link below.

Pity then...
BTW The link you sent returns: Access denied.

Hi fheinen2,
I checked it and seems to work for me. Please check it again. If you still get the message go to shopping.hp.com and review the network printers we are currently offering.

That one also returns "Access denied", but without the "2" it works.
