I still can't get my Photosmart 4780c to work wirelessly on Windows 7 Home?

I've updated drivers and attempted to go through the setup wizard, but it says it can't communicate, even though it's USB connected, as per the instructions.

What router are you using?  When you start the process of connecting the printer to your wireless network, make sure the USB cable is NOT connected.  Connect it only when the software instructs you to.

Linksys E1000 with a Comtrend CT 5072T from my DSL (Otelco)

Connecting/unconnecting, re-installing, etc....nothing works as it's supposed to, never has.

BTW, the wireless light stays on on the printer, as if it's wireless, but seeing it/connecting to it is a bust.

When it gets to network diagnostics, it always balks while "Checking settings for network adapter Realtek PCIe Family Controller."  Then I get "Unable to communicate with your printer. Not all diagnostic tests could be performed. Check connections and retry."

So you have two routers on your network.  Yes, one is wired only, but they can easily not play well together.

I recommend one of two things:

1. Turn DHCP off on your Linksys and let your DSL router handle the network.

2. Change the IP structure of your Linksys to something other than 192.168.1.X (try 192.168.0.X).

How is my DSL router going to handle a network if it's not wireless itself?

...and so far, attempting either of those 'fixes' has only succeeded in messing up my entire network and locking up my iPhone.

Re: I still can't get my Photosmart 4780c to work wirelessly on Windows 7 Home?

A router provides the function of sharing one Internet connection with multiple devices.  A wired router does this with wired devices only, a wireless router does this with both wired and wireless devices.

So, if you do option #1 above, plug the Ethernet cable (from the ISP router) into a LAN port on your Linksys router.  If you do #2 above, plug the Ethernet cable into the WAN port (there is only one) on the Linksys router.  Restart both routers after you do either method (by pulling their power cords momentarily).

None of this should have locked your iPhone.  Hard reboot it by holding the home and power buttons until the Apple logo appears.
