I've installed a new router and my printer message says "Unable to communicate w/printer. what do?

my printer is HP deskjet 3050 J610 3inone.  Running Windows 7, 64-bit.  Installed new router and am not able to connect printer to it.   Wireless.  I've turned both off and back on, one at a time, but nothing is happening to allow printing.

It sounds like the printer just needs to be rejoined to the network.  A new router, in most cases, will be seen as a different network

Have you tried adding the printer to the network using the computer software?  This is the easiest way I know to get a USB to wireless deskjet printer on a network.

This can be done by following step 4 in this document from HP.

You will need a USB cable and a computer that is on the same wireless network you want the printer on.

I recommend uninstalling the printer software before continuing so that what you see matches the steps in the document.

Essentially, the following steps will be performed:

1.  Star the install process.

2.  Select network when prompted.

3.  Connect the printer by USB when prompted.  This is how the network information is transmitted to the printer.

4.  Follow the prompts and disconnect the USB cable when prompted.

At the end of all the steps, the printer should be on the new router.
