Laptop not finding networked printer. HP8600 Pro. What software do I need.

My HP Officejet 8600 Pro-  Model CM750A cannot be found by my netbook. The netbook is connected to the same router.

I can print wirelessly from the Desktop,  which is where I installed the HP Printer. What software do I need on the netbook?  Is there soemthing else I need to do. I do not want to use eprint.

WinXP is on both systems.

Thank you. I found that page and have now succesfully installed the Printer. Problem was that the Softawre that came on the CD which I originally tried using, was trying to reinstall the newtowrk printer to the router. When I downloaded the installation software from HP website and used that, then I was able to install the printer. My main problem is easily finding information on the HP web site without going through all sorts of gyrations and guess work to find the right link. Thank you again for your help.

No, but you can get the latest software for your printer from the "Support & Drivers" link at the top of this page.

I'm having the same issue. I just got off the phone with tech and after 2 hours, nothing was resolved. She sent an email to someone to look over a zip file that she attached. I have windows 7 though. My printer is a officejet 8600 plus. The printer is connected to the router and my computer is connected to the same router. but during the installation process when you click on whether you use wireless or usb, i select wireless, then it shows my printer, i hit install, and i get a printer unable to install over network error. its very frustrating to be on the phone soooo long and nothing gets resolved. Any solutions?!! I have to admit it was pretty neat to watch her take over my computer remotely but like i said, she couldn't fix it. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

I have the same printer as you.
 Don’t have a solution but have some suggestions for things to try if you or HP has not already done so.
1.    Did you use downloaded software for the install? If that is not the case, get the install software from the HP website, as what came with the printer may not work for this type of install.
2.    Is your firewall preventing installing this from happening?  
3.    Are your sure your router is not somehow stopping this? If you don’t know how to access your router, how to can be found at this web site.

4.    You can try calling the support helpline for either your router or your laptop to see if they can help solve the problem.

You have to register to post but they don’t bug you. You don’t have to pay to post, just will then see ads in the BBS. I did post there also but found my answer shortly afterward so no chance to have anyone help me. They have solved many a problem for me either directly or indirectly. You would post on the Networking (hardware & Software) portion.
6.    Try an internet search on something like HP8600Pro wireless won’t install to laptop.

Hang in there, eventually you will get there just a pain trying to do so. :-)
