I have an Officejet Pro 8500 (CB022A) printer connected to my home network using Windows 7 64bit. The printer was connected and running fine. HP Solutions Center and all the software extras were installed and working. Now Solutions Center can't see my printer and I can't even get to the printer with Internet Explorer and the printers IP address. What has changed was my internet provider. I went from Comcast to AT&T. That meant a different Modem. All my devices showed up except the printer. I played around trying to see the printer but nothing. Since then I uninstalled all the printer software and removed the printer. I ran the full featured installer to put everything back, but the installer can't see the printer. If I select install and connect printer later the install quits with no error message and nothing installed. Also I can install the printer thru the devices and printers window but it only finds the printer under IPv6 and a weird address FE80:........:7AE8. It doesn't see the IPv4 address 192.168.0.100. By the way I don't know what IPv4 or IPv6 is. I can create the printer device thru the IPv6 and it does work. I'm really at a loss here. Does anybody have a suggestion that I could try to fix this?

Hi,
Could you please let me know the PC IP address, in order to verify the printer network configured correctly?
May the printer configured for Manual IP address in the past?
Try restoring its network default, allow 2-3 minutes and check if the IP has changed in any way:
From the printer Setup menu, go to Network Setup, then click OK
Locate Restore Network Defaults and click OK. confirm any prompt and allow 2 minutes to re-establish the network connection.
Look for any IP address difference and try accessing it from the browser.
If there is no change, unplug the ethernet cable from the router and try plugging it into any other port (Make sure to use the numbered ports and not LAN, WAN, etc).
Please let me knoew if that may help,
Shlomi

My PC IP address is 192.168.1.68
I have never configured the printer IP address manually before.
I restored the network defaults and the printer IP address changed from 192.168.0.100 to 192.168.1.72 and using that address I can actress the printers web page. I tried to run the full installation program and it sees the printer at the new address (hooray); unfortunately the installation still doesn’t run complete. After selecting the detected printer the installation program stops with the error listed below:
The feature you are trying to use is on a network resource that is unavailable.
Click OK to try again, or enter an alternate path to a folder containing the installation package 'Network64.msi' in the box below.
C:Users\Mike\AppData\Local Temp\7zS68AA\
Went I go to the directory shown the file 'Network64.msi' is not there.

Ok, we do see some progress, it seem the printer had some orphan network settings which.
Per your details assume you used a previously extracted installation folder?
As a temporary folder the data may be changed easily upon PC performance, restart, etc.
First make sure to go to C:Users\Mike\AppData\Local Temp\ and remove any empty the entire folder data. (No reason to worry, any of the files in here are temporarly.)
Go to Control Panel > Printers and make sure you don't have any existing instance of the 8500 and reboot the PC.
Select Install in case the software been removed automatically during the Network.MSI error, select Add a Device if you may find listed and follow the instructions.
Please let me know of any further problem.

Sorry to say it's the same result. Can't find that file. During the install I even went to the temp directory to look for the file. It wasn't where the install program is looking for it. I found it in a folder 3 more folders down:
OJP8500vA909_Full_14\setup\network64\Network64.msi
During the install I browsed to that location and selected that file but it still failed stating it was the wrong version.

I also found something else. This message was in the temp/MSIda67.LOG file:
Error 1706. An installation package for the product Network64 cannot be found. Try the installation again using a valid copy of the installation package 'Network64.msi'.
