No wireless connectivity

My HP C7280 won't connect to my home wireless network. When I check the Wireless network summary, under IP address it says "No link". What do I do to get an IP address installed?

Re: No wireless connectivity

From the front of the printer: Setup > Network > Wireless Setup WIzard.

What router are you using?  Have you restarted it by pulling its power plug momentarily?

Re: No wireless connectivity

I'm using a D-Link DIR300 wireless router. I have tried rebooting the router several times, along with restarting the printer. None of these things seem to make any difference.

Re: No wireless connectivity

OK, D-Link has been having firmware issues lately, does your router have the latest firmware from D-Link?

Re: No wireless connectivity

I doubt that my router has the latest firmware from D-Link. I've had the router about 3 years and have not upgraded etc since. I've had the printer for most of that time too and have never been able to get it to connect to the wireless network. However, my previous HP printer, a C6180, connected right away to the same wireless network, using the same router.  The older printer displayed a valid IP address.

On that basis, I've had the impression that it's the printer, not the router, that has a problem. But any suggestions most appreciated.

Re: No wireless connectivity

My suggestions are:

1. Print a Wireless Network Test from the Network menu of the printer.  Is the printer's radio OK?

2. Get the latest firmware for your router

3. Try the Wireless Setup Wizard from the front of the printer (outlined above)

Re: No wireless connectivity

Definitely making progress now. Checked the Wireless Network test Report and the radio is on and working. I upgraded the firmware on the router and tried the wireless setup wizard. This time, the printer connected to the network and now has an IP address - yay!

My computer can see the printer, but I can't print anything. Every time I try printing the test page, there's an error. When I troubleshoot, the printer queue is restarted and the failed job is removed from the queue, but the error recurs every time. Also, the printer seems to go offline while this going on. Do I need to upgrade the printer driver?

Re: No wireless connectivity

Yup, uninstall the printer software using the unistaller in the HP folder.

Restart your computer.

Finally, get the latest software for your printer from the "Support & Drivers" link at the top of this page.

Re: No wireless connectivity

I cannot get my printer to talk to my computer, but computer is able to talk to printer. Running the wireless network report tells me wireless radio is not working. I am running a HP photosmart C309a printer with vista.

I have tried all the suggestions recommended by the printer manual, but printer cannot find the wireless network, even though the wireless network is working. My computer says it is connected to the printer, and the printer does take commands from the computer.

HELP!
