An earlier post for a related question advised the user to uninstall the HP Office Pro 8600 program. I did that, perhaps prematurely. Before the begin following your recommendations, do I need to reinstall the disc?

Using the directions given, I cannot get to first base. I typed my printer's IP address into my browser and got pages and pages of meaningless geek babble. Again, do I need the CD that came with the printer (re) installed?
Help!

I want to post a question here but all I find is a box to reply. I can't even get started to set up wireless because the control on my printer doesn't show the link to find the printer code. I find it very upsetting that I cannot contact HP to get help locating the code so I can try to set up wireless

So three of you have piled onto this thread, which is fine, but it makes it hard to answer everyone at once.
Do not use CDs to install software if you can help it. They are almost always out of date. This is not just HP software, its any software. Download and install the latest software for your printer from the "Support & Drivers" link at the top of this page.
The printer does not have a code. Your router may have a code (known as your wireless password or passphrase). HP will not know that. It may be printed on your router.
For all of you, please tell me what router and operating system you are using.

When I try to make a wireless connection between my printer and laptop I get an error message from the printer that is error code 0x0070643. It tells me that I need to contact you for a fix. The printer also keeps showing as being online, but once I enter my data it says that printer is offline and has an upside down exclamation mark. How do I fix this?
If I connect the printer to the laptop with a hardwire it does print, but because of the location of my printer this is not feasable for daily useage.

I am afraid to un iinstall the printer. We have a desktop computer and the printer works with it. I am trying to get it to work with my apple laptop MacPro. I don't think the printer is connected to our wireless. What should I do?

Sorry, but there are too many people piling on this thread with very disparate issues and equipment. I give up trying to keep it all straight.
If you want my help, please start your own thread. Thanks, PD.

Does this mean HP has no tech support?
